The Magaliesberg Quartzite forms a ridge which extends over more than 100km from the west of Rustenburg to the Bronkhorstspruit Dam. It is a very pure Quartzite consisting of well sorted, quartz grains in a silica sand matrix. S2N Mining is on the farm Kaalfontein in Rayton, and part of this ridge. The three Directors and Shareholders of the mine are Marius Heyns, previous CEO of the construction company Basil Read, Pitso George Nkwinika and Gary Hurwitz, with Jacques du Plessis as the Mine Manager. S2N sand mine is situated 1km before Rayton on the R515 and less than 5km from the N4. The sand is high in silica content – up to 91% unwashed, thus not only good for construction sand but Industrial sand as well. All the colours that builders require is here – Red, Yellow, White and all the colours in-between.
